Are they still racing stock cars?
It seems like a loooong time since Daytona, doesn’t it? When the Smokeless Set takes the checkers at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this Sunday afternoon, it’ll have been a full three weeks since the 500, a span during which the boys held a boring Fontana race that saw the stands half-filled, and then took a week off to celebrate, uh, some Christian holiday I probably don’t understand. And it’s not exactly the time of year that’s going to make the public rush out and think “NASCAR.” A mere few hours after the race on Sunday, the NCAA will announce its March Madness brackets, sending stock-car racing toward the kind of anonymity it experiences only one other time each year: when the NFL kicks off.
Nevertheless, Nextel Cup racing is about to get good. The flattish-tracked Vegas race has the potential to be a bit strung-out and boring, but there have been several good events here. Even better, the boys head down to ridiculously fast Atlanta next week, and then comes Thunder Alley in Bristol. Three more different driving experiences, you’re not likely to find.
What can we say about Vegas? (I mean: what can we say about the track. I know what we can say about the city. It’s fun. And where’s my wallet?) The 1.5-miler in the desert doesn’t drive anything like the high-banked 1.5-milers in places like Texas, Charlotte or Atlanta. Its corners are banked a mere 12 degrees, which puts it on par with venues like New Hampshire and (believe it or not) Martinsville. When looking for comparisons, I like Loudon as the most direct resemblance, but I’ll take a look at patterns from all three other “flatties,” too: Phoenix, Martinsville and Richmond. None of these tracks are as big or as wide as Vegas, however; this place is its own entity.

Riding the Chrysler 300

From DaimlerChrysler AG is yet another vehicle that is roaring up the top spots in terms of its segment. This vehicle is the Chrysler 300. Although there already had been other vehicles in automobile history that has bore the same name, there is a new Chrysler 300 that is haunting the streets and roads. It has actually replaced the spot and niche of the now defunct Eagle Vision since the year 1999.
The Chrysler 300 is a full size vehicle and has been designed and manufactured to be a sedan with four doors. If you do travel to Europe, you would find that this vehicle is sold and marketed there as a station wagon, instead of a sedan, with four doors as well. From 1999 up until the year 2004, the Chrysler 300 has been using the FF LH platform. However, come 2005, its manufacturer has decided to switch the platform that the Chrysler 300 is using. At present, it is now mounted and manufactured on the FR LX platform. The vehicle holds a four speed 42RLE automatic transmission system. And it has been said that its competition include the Chevrolet Impala and the Ford Five Hundred.
If you take a ride inside the Chrysler 300 you would be able to notice the grandeur and luxury that this vehicle holds. In fact, this is one of the traits that the manufacturer of this vehicle boasts of and is proud of. In fact, luxury has become a standard for this sedan. It holds a roomy cabin with 105.8 cubic feet of passenger room which means that it does not only provide enough space but there is a great generosity of it. One could also find Satin Silver accents and an equally elegant analog clock found inside. Everything exudes refinement and sophistication. One would even feel that everything has been meticulously done by hand so as to provide such an endearing and warm environment.
The rear seats are made standard as 60/40 split folding so as to provide more cargo room in the back. The trunk gives away 15.6 cubic feet of space so that if you need more space for added cargo, you would not have trouble finding space. Passengers who would choose to sit in the back are given 40.2 inches of legroom in that area.

Daimler Chrysler Robotic Factories

All automaker factories are going to robotics, some say that Japan is leading the field in these endeavors, of course most all of the technology started here in the States. With American Automakers hurting and Delphi filing bankruptcy, some of these robotic auto plants will go dark for a while and probably lay off some Union Workers, which can save the companies millions is health care costs and problems associated with over production and the need to discount or over extend credit to consumers, which would have a whole other problem.
Large auto factory plants like the German auto maker Daimler Chrysler often go dark to work on equipment, upgrade computers, install new components along the assembly lines and general maintenance. These 2-4 week shut downs are necessary as IT personal re-figure glitches, assign net-centric IP addresses for each component, as the robotic professional fine tune the systems. Some of these robotic factories have over 2500-4500 devices all working together on the assembly lines. So now these system talk to themselves and self-assigns the IP addresses thru the routers, which add an additional level of security and of course complexity as well. Everything must be perfect as the show MUST go on at Chrysler. Remember the efficiency of robotics only work when all the robotics are working perfectly. An on looker of such a factory in progress cannot imagine the problematic situations of bottlenecks, or the complexity in the Finite Capacity Scheduling models, nor could have Friedrich “Winslow” Taylor envisioned how perfect or efficient his modern day factory would become.
To help one better understand how robotic manufacturing works at Daimler Chrysler look at the assembly line factory robotics as a car wash. You see you are familiar with carwashes and this is similar to that of manufacturing models? Bottlenecks slow production; moving the finished cars out of the way is a key, long lines hurt business. Have you ever seen the long line at the car wash and driven by instead of stopping? You are not alone, as people drive off without stopping for a wash.
